Step 1-2: Assembling the RD290 Mini Hexacopter Frame (continued)

The first step in assembling our RD290 carbon fiber frame kit is to install the short aluminum stand-offs on one of our two bottom plates (below two photos). The short stand-offs are threaded all the way through so the longest of the bolts will protrude above the stand-off. These will be used later on to fasten our deck assembly to the hexacopter's boom/arm bottom assembly.

The next step is to build our boom/arm assembly. To do this simply fasten the booms/arms between the two bottom plates using the medium sized bolts and locking nylon nuts provided with the kit. Note: The bottom plate with the short stand-offs must be the top plate of the assembly and the two shorter arms must go to the front of the hexacopter (below two photos).

Assembly Tip: When fastening the arms in place between the two bottom plates it is easier to tighten the bolts on one arm first. This will hold the plates while you slip the next arm into position and tighten the fasteners. (below photo).
